[SaoTome City] Good location related to production

Visited 6 cities. All of my visits were day trips from Sao Tome and I took taxis, so all our overnight stays were in Sao Tome city.

1.Cidade de São Tomé

2.Monte Café(includings Bemposta, Novo Destino)

3.Guadalupe

4.Porto Alegre

5.Diogo Vaz

6.Neves

This is the starting/ending stop for all taxis (shared yellow taxis). Accommodations tend to be expensive, but there are many options. I had spent 15 EUR minimum per night. There are many supermarkets to choose from and it is very convenient for daily life. Many shops are open until late at night.

Monte Café(includings Bemposta, Novo Destino)

I recommend the city Monte Cafe, it is my memorable.

It is the oldest coffee farm in São Tomé, begin to 1858. Monte Cafe has a museum and a restaurant, small souvenir shop.
From here, you can observe the coffee production process. There are different towns for each process, and there are hiking trips to each town approximately every hour, and the entire process takes about 3 hours.

Along the way, you will have an adventure-like experience exploring the jungle, interacting with various students, banana farmers, and farm workers.

Guadalupe

This is a town you pass through on your way to the city on the west side from Sao Tome City. The town and market are quite small. The restaurant also had closed without notice. Although it’s a small town inland, there seemed to be plenty of fish.

It’s close to the city, so you can stop by if you have time. There’s nothing special about it, and I don’t know if they even open a restaurant.

Porto Alegre

It’s a city where foreigners rarely come, so there’s not much to do. The city is built around fishing. Many foreigners visit Loras Island which has a monument marking its location on the equator.

Along the way, you can experience the magnificent nature such as trees and the sea that can only be seen here. In particular, you can see the towering Pico Cão Grande.

You can also take a taxi, but in the evening you can either take a motorbike back to São João de Angolares or take a taxi back.

Diogo Vaz

There is also a cocoa farm in the city called Diago Vaz. If you go there, you can take a tour to learn about cacao.

Neves

It’s a big town near Diago Vaz. There were many bright and energetic residents.

It was fun talking with various people.
