[Sao Tome City] Diogo Vaz – famous for CACAO

“Diogo Vaz” is point 5 on below map. You cannot go directly by taxi. You can get there by motorbike from point 6 “Neves” for 30Db.

Diago Vaz itself is a fairly small village. At the entrance, it says “Roca Diogo Vaz”. “Roca” means “farm” in Portuguese.

The town is located at the top of a small slope. Along the way, there were many cacao fruits we can see.

fermentation. It smells like alcohol, like alcohol.

Dried cacao, it looks like you often see it at this point.

When you crack it, it has the usual cacao taste. The texture is like soft, thick paper, but if you keep chewing it, you’ll get to know the chocolate taste. I was impressed by this

A cacao sorting machine that has been in operation for a long time. You can see it in operation.

Part of the facility. The farm is quite large.

Finally, we sampled three chocolate bars. The percentage of cacao was different (82%, 75%, 65%), and 75% was the most delicious for me.
